Our short-term ministry team was working in a
community near the Uganda border and learned that
Denis, a very bright, third year high school student had
lost both of his parents to HIV/AIDS thus forcing him
to live with his grandfather.  He was away at school for
the first term this year and returned home to care for
his grandfather who was quite ill.  While he was home,
his grandfather died leaving him with literally no one in
this world.  And to make matters worse, all of his
worldly possessions (mattress, bed sheets, clothing,
uniforms, shoes, etc) were taken from his locker box at
school.  Peter, a good friend and teacher at the
Mugomari School, passed by his home to find the young
man still there and sobbing beyond belief.  “They’re all
gone,” Denis said.  The next day, our team arrived to
work at the teacher’s school for a few days.  Both the
young man and the teacher met with me for any advice
since Denis wanted to return to school so he could
have a real future.  I’ve never been in a position like
this before.  I’ve never lost everyone around me and
everything for that matter.  Fortunately, I know of a
number of people who have gone through this and
certainly my brother Job was an inspiration to me.  It
was God who sustained them through all of this and
moved them on to live a life pleasing to Him.  The rest
of the team learned about Denis and the day we left
the area, they had all chipped in and purchased
everything he needed (new uniform too!) to return to
school.  As we dropped Denis off at the remote
boarding school, the team also laid off enough funds to
pay for the next term’s tuition.  I have never seen a
happier young man in my life.

It’s truly rare to witness firsthand the grace of God
moving among His people.  I was blessed to be a part of
all of this and to honestly see the church of God in her
finest hour, rising up to meet the challenge.

Our next Kenya team leaves September 2.  This group
will be helping to build an emergency food/relief
distribution center among the Maasai Tribe in southern
Kenya.  We'll also be holding a community medical clinic
and will probably treat as many as 600 people during
this time.  Please be in prayer for our group.

If you wish to be part of one of our Kenya teams,
contact us right away by emailing ucommit@juno.com
or telephone our office at 909-570-9306.  We'd be
happy to mail you an application.  We have a team
scheduled for February, another in May, one in June,
two in July, one in August, and another in October as
well.

TEACH ENGLISH IN CHINA THIS SUMMER!
By: Jamie Barros - COMMIT Ministries

There are about two thousand students that would
really love to have you as their teacher! If you are
fluent in speaking the English language and would like to
teach a class of middle school students in China, you
are qualified! No experience is necessary; we will train
you! And you do not need to know Chinese! Teams will
teach four to six classes a day and have full interactive
curriculum with each class.
Several trips taking place from May through July ranging
from four to six weeks.
Your training begins in Beijing as you learn a simple
TEFOL program. Our teams also take time out to walk
on the Great Wall and visit Tiannamen Square! Your
willingness to serve is such a blessing in helping them
pass their exams and qualify for High School! They need
your help! Write me anytime or call our office at 909-
570-9306 to register for next year!
